As a Program Manager at Generation Citizen, Cesar Ortega supports GC’s New England teachers in implementing action civics into their classrooms through instructional and transformational coaching.

Cesar received his B.A. in English from UMass Boston with a concentration in Pre-Law and completed the Teach Next Year program to receive his Master’s Degree in education and teaching certifications. Prior to joining GC, he was a passionate educator for equity in public schools across grades 7-12 in both Boston and Bronx, NY. During his 8 years in the classroom, he emphasized social-emotional learning, trauma-informed pedagogy, culturally and linguistically sustaining practices, and empowering youth to become change makers in the world.

A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Mr. Ortega loves making music in his home studio, hanging out with his family and friends, and reading random books outside his field of expertise. His hobbies include basketball, supporting the Celtics with his positive energy, and winning his fantasy football league.
