Ruben Martinez is an 8th-grade U.S. History teacher at Bronx Excellence Middle School in the Bronx. A proud Bronx native, Mr. Martinez brings over 20 years of experience in education, teaching both middle and high school students.

Grounded in a social justice approach to American History, Mr. Martinez believes that History, Herstory, and Theirstory all deserve to be valued and shared in the classroom. His teaching empowers students to see themselves as part of the American story while also developing the critical thinking skills needed to shape their future.

In addition to his passion for history, Mr. Martinez has fully embraced Civic Education. He has supported hundreds of high school seniors in earning the New York Seal of Civic Readiness, which is awarded with their high school diplomas. His work has inspired students to engage with civic life in meaningful ways, actively bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world citizenship.

Outside of the classroom, Mr. Martinez enjoys spending time with his family. He is a proud father, husband, and dog parent.
