Marjorie Innocent, Vice-Chair

Adjunct Associate Professor, Meharry School of Global Health

Dr. Marjorie Innocent integrates research, advocacy, capacity building, and engagement to advance just policies and optimal health. She is an adjunct associate professor in the Department of Health, Law, Policy and Management at Meharry Medical College School of Global Health, where she teaches courses on political determinants of health and health governance. In addition, she serves on the national board of Generation Citizen and provides strategic guidance through advisory roles with the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Disparities Solutions and other organizations. Most recently, she served as director of learning and impact at the NAACP, where she collaborated with colleagues to develop and implement internal structures for capturing metrics, monitoring progress, and promoting shared learning within and across teams.

As vice president of research and programs at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Dr. Innocent led the development of several policy-centered leadership development programs, community engagement initiatives, and policy analysis and research projects focused on health, economic security, education, and other areas. Her previous professional roles also include evaluation specialist with the Department of Shared Accountability at Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland; director of the Maryland School-Based Health Center Initiative; and research associate at the Center for Applied Research and Technical Assistance in Baltimore.

Marjorie earned her PhD in health and social policy from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and has published numerous articles and writings on health and education-related topics. She is a lover of God, fairness, music, and culture.
