David Brown

Partner, Brunswick Group

Dave is a Partner at the Brunswick Group, a global critical issues advisory firm. His practice sits at the intersection of policy, advocacy, and strategic communications and issues management. Drawing on over 15 years of experience spanning the public and private sectors, Dave counsels some of the world’s most significant organizations on the critical issues they face—helping them to design and execute public affairs campaigns to advance their policy agendas at the federal level, manage significant reputational risk, and navigate complex litigation and regulatory environments.

An attorney and former senior counselor to U.S. Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), Dave served as the senator’s principal advisor on technology, telecommunications, and judiciary matters. He appeared regularly as a guest political commentator on cable news and other outlets during the 2016, 2018 and 2020 campaign cycles, and he has taught at The George Washington University as lecturer in political management.

Outside of work, Dave is passionate about and committed to civic engagement. He served previously on the board of directors of Solid Ground, a Washington state-based community action agency that works to end poverty and undo racism and on the United Way of King County’s advisory council focused on ending homelessness. Washington state Governors Locke and Gregoire appointed Dave to serve two terms on the Governor’s Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee. During his tenure on the committee, Dave served as Washington state’s delegate to the Department of Justice’s Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice.
