Emily Wyner
Tufts Coordinator
Emily is a sophomore at Tufts, originally hailing from Western Connecticut. Though she has yet to declare a major, she is happily feasting on a balanced diet of social sciences, Spanish, and philosophy.
During high school, Emily was consistently involved in athletics and mathletics, as well as student government and community service. She chose to transfer to Danbury High School in late September of her junior year in order to immerse herself in a more academically, racially, and socioeconomically diverse environment. The switch lit a spark in Emily. In school, Emily enjoyed a wide range of courses and was involved with the music, performance, and visual arts communities. Outside of school, Emily maintained a poetry website, co-founded a soccer league for mentally and physically handicapped children in the Danbury area, served as an outreach volunteer for the Spanish-speaking community at the city’s Democratic Headquarters, and took classical Indian dance lessons. Her affinity for culture and richness of life led her to China in the summer before her senior year, when she spent a month traveling and taking intensive language, history, and arts classes.
Emily continues her trend of fervent dabbling at Tufts. She is a member of the sketch comedy troupe, Major: Undecided, a caretaker and active member of the Tufts Mountain Club, and has served as an online editor with the Tufts Daily. Over winter break of her freshman year, Emily spent a month in Israel, learning about military operations on an IDF medical supply base and traveling both independently and with Birthright. Upon her return, Emily stumbled upon Generation Citizen and was immediately captured by the action-based methodology that GC so passionately embraces. She served as a mentor at Malden High this past semester and was delighted to stay on board as an intern this summer.
Looking to the future, Emily hopes to utilize Generation Citizen's unique platform to draw attention to some of our educational system's most dire needs.
